Three From MCC Complete Leadership Program
(Bradenton, Fla., Nov. 29, 2007) - Manatee Community College faculty members Dr. Sheri Chejlyk and Gladys Green, and instructional design specialist Mary Masi recently graduated from a year-long Academy for Leadership and Development program.
Created by the Chair Academy, a division of the Maricopa Community College District, Mesa, Ariz., the program advances organizational leadership and provides succession planning for leaders in post-secondary institutions. It includes an initial week of on-site training; a practicum experience involving implementation of an individualized professional development plan; a mentor and coaching program; and a final week of on-site training with a focus on leadership issues.
Participants are selected and nominated by their individual colleges. Chejlyk teaches psychology and is faculty advisor to the MCC Venice chapter of the Psi Beta National Psychology Honor Society for Community and Junior Colleges. She has a doctorate from Capella University, Minneapolis, Minn. Green teaches social and behavioral sciences and has a master's degree from National-Louis University, Tampa. Masi, who works in MCC's distance learning program, has a master's degree from Nova Southeastern University online educational technology program and is working toward earning a doctoral degree.
