Learn About Teaching Certification Program
(Bradenton, Fla., Dec. 13, 2007) - Manatee Community College (MCC) will host an information session about its teaching certification preparation program, for noneducation majors with at least a bachelor's degree, at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 12, in the auditorium at MCC Lakewood Ranch, 7131 Professional Parkway East.
MCC was one of the first colleges to develop an ACP when the programs were authorized by the Florida Legislature in an attempt to address the state's critical teacher shortage. After participants complete ACP coursework, pass Florida Teacher Certification Exams and undergo a mandatory background check, they are eligible for professional teaching certification. The cost of the ACP is approximately $2,000.
Additional information sessions are scheduled at 6:30 p.m., March 18 and April 8, at MCC Lakewood Ranch. Applications and more information about MCC's alternative program for teacher certification are available at www.scf.edu/TeacherEd; by calling (941) 752-5411 or (941) 408-1300, ext. 65411; or e-mailing ACP@mccfl.edu.
