MCC Alumni & Current Athletes Compete Jan. 19
MCC alumni and current softball and baseball players will face off in annual games on Saturday, Jan. 19, at MCC Bradenton.
MCC President Dr. Sarah Pappas will throw the first pitch in a softball game that begins at 11 a.m. After the game ends at approximately 1 p.m., new recruits for the softball team will sign letters of intent.
Pappas will once again throw the first pitch in a baseball game that begins at 2 p.m. A couple of the noted baseball alumni who are expected to attend and/or play in the game are new inductees in MCC's Hall of Fame. Jody Reed, a former major league player, helped win a state title for MCC and went on to play for the Boston Red Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Milwaukee Brewers, San Diego Padres and Detroit Tigers. Nick Cafaro was on the 1963 MCC World Series team that finished second in the nation. He went on to play at Florida State University.
