Business Clubs Excel in District Competition
(Bradenton, Fla., March 6, 2008) - Members of Manatee Community College (MCC) Venice and Bradenton Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) business clubs earned 41 awards, including 17 first-place awards, in District IV Spring Leadership Conference and Competition hosted by MCC Venice on Feb. 23. The MCC students competed with students from Pasco-Hernando and South Florida community colleges.
MCC Venice team members who won first-place awards included Jill Wright, Grazyna Maklary, Ethel "Mickie" Abel and Bryan Felipe. Wright won six first-place awards. Maklary won three first-place and two second-place awards. Abel won three first-place and two third-place awards. Felipe also won two second-place awards. Abel is president of the MCC Venice PBL Club.
MCC Bradenton team members who won first-place awards included Larissa Dalton, David Vu, and Julie Santos. Dalton won two first-place and a fourth-place award. Vu also won a second- and a third-place award. Santos also won a second-place award. Dalton is president of the MCC Bradenton PBL Club.
Professor Dr. Louis Okonkwo is the PBL Venice club's adviser. Instructor Amy Santos is the PBL Bradenton club's adviser.
