Classical Pianist Performs April 6
(Bradenton, Fla., March 21, 2008) - Classical pianist and composer Dr. Leonidas N. Sarakatsannis, who teaches at Manatee Community College (MCC), will perform works by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms and Liszt at 4 p.m., Sunday, April 6, in Neel Performing Arts Center, located off 26th Street at 60th Avenue West, MCC Bradenton. Sarakatsannis also will play his original composition, "Twelve Excursions."
Sarakatsannis will perform "Toccata" by Bach, "Fantasy" by Mozart, "Appassionata" by Beethoven, "Fantasies" by Brahms, and "Transcendental Etude" and "Grand Etude After Paganini" by Liszt. He has performed throughout the United States and in Guam, Saipan, Hawaii and Japan. His background also includes work as a pedagogue and conductor. In 2005, he was included in Who's Who in the World and also has been listed in Who's Who in America and the International Who's Who in Musician's Directory. Praised by critics for his "extraordinarily dexterous effects" and "true artistry," Sarakatsannis received a Florida Composers League Composition Award for Twelve Excursions. His career includes solo performances with many prestigious orchestras, including the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Florida Symphony and Florida Philharmonic.
