Business Club Members to Compete at National Conference

(Bradenton, Fla., April 16, 2008) - Members of Manatee Community College (MCC) Venice and Bradenton Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) business clubs earned 11 awards, including two first-place awards, in Florida PBL Leadership Conference and Competition held in Tampa April 10 through 13. Six of the 10 MCC award winners won first- and second-place awards that entitle them to compete in national competition in Atlanta, Ga., June 19 through 24.

At the state level, MCC students competed against students from other community colleges and four-year universities. MCC Venice team members who won first-place awards included Jill Wright, also the winner of two second-place awards, and Grazyna Malkary. Other second-place award winners were Brayan Felipe and Ethel "Mickie" Abel. Kathy Emmons and Peter Grossi won a fourth-place award.

MCC Bradenton team members who won second-place awards were Trent McNabb and Julie Santos. Third-place award winners were Larissa Dalton and Katherine Loza.

Professor Dr. Louis Okonkwo is the PBL Venice club's adviser. Instructor Amy Santos is the PBL Bradenton club's adviser.
