Faculty Member Publishes Article in International Sourcebook(Bradenton, Fla., May 15, 2008) - Dr. Stacie Williams, assistant professor in the Manatee Community College (MCC) Mathematics Department, has published an article in the 2008 edition of "To Improve the Academy," an annual sourcebook for members of the Professional and Organizational Development (POD) Network in Higher Education. POD members are from across the United States and Canada and 23 other countries.
Williams conducted a nationwide study of mathematics departments in research universities for her article, "Investigating Indicators of the Scholarship of Teaching: Teaching Awards in Research Universities."
With MCC since August 2007, Williams was formerly an assistant professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, and an adjunct at Tallahassee Community College. She earned a master's degree and Ph.D. in mathematics education from Florida State University, Tallahassee.
