Studio 84 Productions Present One-Act Comedies
(Bradenton, Fla., May 28, 2008 - Manatee Community College (MCC) Studio 84 Productions will present "Ha!," a collection of playwright Rich Orloff's most popular one-act comedies at 8 p.m., June 12-14, in the Chamber Theatre, which is in room 123 of building 11, located to the right of the main entrance to Neel Performing Arts Center off 26th Street at 60th Avenue West, MCC Bradenton.
A farcical retelling of the Oedipus Rex story, "Oedi," will be directed by student Dayton Sinkia. Described as "Sophocles meets the Marx Brothers," the hilarious play features cast members Colin Brady, Kyle Bliss, Moira Carroll and Nicholas DeLisi.
MCC student Joshua Fishbein will direct "The News From St. Petersburg," a Chekhovian spoof set in 1905 Russia. Cast members are Daniel Amir, Mariana Rocha, Jenna Gagliano and Gilbert Ortiz.
"The Whole Shebang," directed by MCC faculty member Dean Anthony, will ponder the question - "What if the entire universe was just some nerd's science project?" Cast members include Fishbein, Gagliano, Sinkia, Cassie Magnuson, Katelyn Studer and Chelsea Stump.
The 59-seat Chamber Theatre Box Office opens an hour before each performance. General admission is $10. Tickets are $5 for Florida students and MCC staff. Tickets go on sale June 2 in the Neel Performing Arts Center Box Office. For more information, call (941) 752-5252.
