Five From MCC Win National Excellence Awards
(Bradenton, Fla., June 11, 2008) - Five National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) award winners from Manatee Community College (MCC) were recognized at the 2008 International Institute Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence held in Austin, Texas, in May. MCC winners are Karen Armstrong, assistant registrar; Dr. Michael Buonanno, literature professor; Don Hall, natural science professor; Daisy Vulovich, executive director, corporate and community development; and Anita Weaver, director, Dental Hygiene Program.
Hall also was selected by Dr. John Rosen, vice president of academic affairs, as the winner of MCC's annual Vice President's Academic Excellence Award. Winners of that award exemplify the qualities of teaching excellence, engage in collegewide activities, and have an extensive history of service to the institution. A full-time faculty member since 1983, Hall has served as chair of natural science and computer science departments. He is the adviser to the award-winning MCC Bradenton Earth Club.
