Soprano Martha Lopez Performs
Soprano Martha Lopez, who teaches in her Sarasota studio and at Manatee Community College (MCC) Bradenton, will perform at 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 19, in Neel Performing Arts Center, located off 26th Street at 60th Avenue West, MCC Bradenton. She will perform works by classical composers Brahms, Rachmaninoff, Poulenc, Ginastera and Bernstein.
A native of New Jersey, Lopez first trained as a classical pianist. While earning a bachelor's degree at Stetson University, DeLand, she went on an Austrian cultural tour and discovered a passion for opera. She studied at MCC and earned a master's degree in vocal performance from the University of South Florida (USF).
Lopez regularly performs as a soloist in concerts and recitals, including appearances in USF opera productions and with the MCC Chamber Orchestra. She still studies with prominent voice pedagogue Shirlee Emmons of New York, N.Y.
