Lt. Gov. Kottkamp & Rep. Galvano to Visit MCC Oct. 2

Manatee Community College (MCC) President Dr. Lars Hafner will welcome Florida Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp, state Rep. Bill Galvano and other dignitaries who will participate in a program about the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles' portable Florida Licensing on Wheels (FLOWmobile) at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 2, in room 148 of the Student Union, building 14, at MCC Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West.

MCC students, employees and members of the pubilc will be invited to register emergency contact information in the FLOWmobile's secure driver license database. The FLOWmobile will remain open until 6 p.m. in Room 148.

A tragic accident that took the life of a young woman in Manatee County in 2005 prompted her mother, Christine Olson, to seek a way to avoid lengthy delays in famlies being notified when a loved one is involved in an emergency. With Galvano's help, the To Inform Families First (TIFF) Initiative became a reality, allowing emergency contact information to be included in the Driver and Vehicle Information Database system used by most law enforcement agencies in the state. Olson and Electra Bustle, executive director of the Department of Highway Safety, also will speak during the brief introductory program.

Directions to and a map of MCC Bradenton may be downloaded at www.scf.edu/maps.
