MCC Hosts Annual Holiday Ceramics Sale Dec. 4-5
One-of-a-kind ceramics made by Manatee Community College (MCC) students and faculty will be for sale from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 4, and 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 5, in rooms 147/148, Student Union, building 14, at MCC Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West.
MCC's Annual Holiday Ceramics Show and Sale features functional and sculptural pieces of high- and raku-fired stoneware and porcelain clay. Local customers may order custom-made pieces to be delivered prior to Christmas. Proceeds will be used to purchase a soda kiln and sponsor a workshop in February with internationally acclaimed Canadian ceramics artist Robin Hopper.
This year's ceramics were produced in a new Art and Design Building that offers students the use of car kilns for high temperature glaze firings, a fast-fire raku kiln, electric kilns, and a studio for hand building and wheel throwing.
The Dec. 4 sale will be part of a dual celebration of the inauguration of MCC President Dr. Lars A. Hafner and the grand opening of the new Music and Theatre Building.
