Artwork by Local Educators Showcased

Local arts educators will showcase their talents in a "Les Enseignants D'Art" (The Art Instructors) exhibit that opens with a free reception from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 14, in the fine art gallery at Manatee Community College (MCC) Bradenton, 5840 26th St. West. The collaborative initiative between MCC and area schools will feature works by artists who play a role in the scholastic community and want to help build ties between their institutions.

Featured artists from Sarasota schools include Kim Anderson, New College; Nancee Clark and Diane Zorn, Ringling College of Art and Design; Steven Strenk, Booker High School and Ringling College of Art and Design; and Jan Davis and Judy Lyon, Riverview High School. Jacqueline Henson-Dacey teaches at Riverview High School and MCC Venice. Artists from Bradenton schools are Kathy R. Cocciolone and Susan Swanson, Bayshore High School; Caui Lofgren, The Pendleton School at IMG; Jon Scott, Manatee High School; and Barbara Tapley-Kenney, Southeast High School. Miami artists represented include Mady Gonzalez, Jane S. Roberts K-8 Center; and Celeste Pierson, New World School of the Arts.
