MCC Listed as "Fit-Friendly Company" in Forbes
MCC's wellness initiatives have earned the College a gold-level award in the American Heart Association's (AHA) Fit-Friendly Companies Recognition Program. MCC is included in a list of award-winners in the October issue of Forbes magazine in a special section, "The Healthy Workplace."
The award recognizes companies that offer physical activity support, increase healthy eating options at work and promote a wellness culture. MCC is one of just five organizations in Manatee and Sarasota counties recognized in the special issue.
The College's program includes brown bag lunch presentations on health-related topics, smoking prevention and cessation programs, campus walking trails and free aerobic classes.
MCC employees and MCC President Dr. Lars Hafner consistently rank wellness activities as important priorities.
A presentation of the award by an AHA representative to MCC officials is planned. Details will be announced.
