Thrill the World Event at SCF Venice
(Bradenton, Fla., September 25, 2009) - State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) students, faculty and staff will dress as zombies and dance to Michael Jackson's "Thriller" at 8:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 24, at SCF Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail.
Sponsored by the Pop Culture Club, the event will benefit Shriners Hospital in Tampa. Students will offer dance lessons at the canopied outdoor Performance Pavilion at SCF Venice at the following times:
- 12:30 - 1 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 29, Oct. 6, Oct, 13 and Oct. 20
- 3:30 p.m.- 4:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 1, Oct. 8, Oct. 15 and Oct. 22
- 1 - 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 2, Oct. 9, Oct. 16 and Oct. 23
Students also are offering lessons off-site for groups interested in learning the dance.
Part of the simultaneous 4th annual "Thrill the World" event, the goal is to break the Guinness World Record with 270,000 participants worldwide. The first event, held in 2006, began with 62 zombies participating, setting the first Guinness World Record for "Largest Thriller Dance."
