State College of Florida Collegiate School is the nation’s first college-operated charter school with middle school students on a college campus. SCFCS’s seamless continuum of education from middle school through high school allows students to explore their potential, discover the importance of higher education and receive personalized attention in a close-knit school setting. SCFCS’s unique qualities include: • Opportunity to graduate simultaneously with a high school diploma and Associate in Arts (A.A.) degree, instilling the goal of a college degree in each student starting in middle school. • Teachers committed to teaching beyond traditional education boundaries, including serving in multiples roles as teacher, coach and tutor. • Personalized, self-paced and goal-orientated education conducted through a variety of learning strategies (lecture, small group, projects, tutorials, laboratory and individualized learning), based on the internationally recognized Kunskapsskolan charter school model from Sweden. • Core curricula of standard middle and high school subjects contextualized through issues such as globalization, sustainability, entrepreneurship, international relations and citizenship. • Technology that permeates the teaching and learning process including a dynamic web-based learning system, iPads and MacBook Pro laptops (through a partnership with Apple), Smartboards and other digital instructional tools. • Full-tuition and mandated fees scholarship from Florida Gulf Coast University for the first 10 graduating classes. SCFCS is a tuition-free public school located at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th Street West. Created through a charter with Manatee County School District, SCFCS operates autonomously and is responsible to the SCF District Board of Trustees.
