Manatees Finish Second at States

SCF went 3-2 at the FCCAA State Tournament and finished second in the Gulf District behind Chipola College. The Manatees fell to Chipola 13-8 in the championship round of district play. Chipola went on to defeat Miami-Dade College 14-0 in the state championship.

The Manatees defeated Gulf Coast Community College 4-1 and Northwest Florida State College 8-5 on the opening day in Auburndale. SCF lost to Chipola 7-4 in the winners' bracket final but rebounded with a 6-4 victory over Tallahassee CC to reach the championship round.

Latece Luther, Kelsey Maffucci, Kayla Gabel and Kayla Ellingsen were named to the All-Tournament Team. Luther went 8-for-18 in the tourney with two home runs. Gabel, Maureen Sandidge and Randi Grimes each homered twice in the event for SCF. The Manatees finished with nine home runs as a team. Ellingsen earned two victories on the mound for SCF.
