Some responsibilities for disabled students include
Notify the School If you will need any accommodation, register with the Disability Resource Center (DRC).
Provide Documentation A student's responsibility is to provide professional documentation of his or her disability. The Disability Resource Center will be able to tell you what type of documentation is required for your specific disabilty.
Request Accommodation Determine your classes' requirements and possible needed accommodations.
Participate in securing Requested Accommodation Follow institutional rules, assist in locating service providers, inform DRC of any service problems (incomplete or missing notes, etc.)
Meet Academic and Conduct Standards You get no special treatment because you have a disability. You must still meet the essential requirements of a class or program and comply with the code of conduct.
Another student responsibility is that of self - advocate. Students must become adept at realistically assessing and understanding their strengths, weaknesses, needs, and preferences. Also, they must become experts at communicating this information to other adults including instructors and service providers.
