Please see some of the most frequently asked questions from incoming students during their admissions process.

Where can I get a scholarship?

The SCF Foundation Scholarship application is open! Go to SCF.AwardSpring.com to complete the scholarship application with your MySCF username and password. The deadline to complete the scholarship application is April 16.

How do I Apply for the SCF Excellence Award Scholarship?

The SCF Excellence Award Scholarship is for high school seniors who plan to enroll at SCF in the upcoming Fall semester. Complete the application and submit to Admissions@SCF.edu before the April 15 deadline.

What are the admissions requirements?

State College of Florida is an open admissions college meaning that as long as the student has a high school diploma or GED, they are eligible to study with us. We do not require test scores or a GPA requirement for acceptance to our institution and do not have a priority deadline as we are a rolling admissions college. If applying online, be sure to know your SSN as that is a requirement for the application.

When to apply/Is there an application deadline?

There isn’t a specific application deadline at SCF. However, we recommend students complete the application and admissions process before April if they plan on attending the Fall Semester as that is when registration will open. The application is available in October for the upcoming Fall semester.

I want to take classes in the Summer. How can I do this?

You’ll want to apply to SCF for the Fall 2023 semester and complete your admissions steps. Once you’ve completed those steps you will be eligible for our Freshman Transition Program. This program allows you to take summer classes before starting your fall semester as a freshman. Look for an email invitation to the program in the Spring.

How will I know if I’ve been accepted/next steps?

Students will be sent their acceptance to the personal email used on their admissions application. The acceptance email will contain their MySCF login information. Students should continue to check their personal email for information regarding their next steps, including orientation.

When can I complete orientation?

An email invitation will be sent to your personal email to sign up for orientation. Students can complete orientation from November-August, but are encouraged to do it earlier rather than later to ensure they’re prepared for when registration opens.

When do I need to submit transcripts?

After graduating from high school and your transcripts include your graduation date.

Do I need to submit test scores?

If you went a Florida Public High School your 9th grade and 12th grade year and graduated/will graduate with a standard diploma, you do not need to submit test scores. You can enroll in college-level math and English courses. If you do not meet that criteria, you will need to submit ACT or SAT scores from within the last two years or take the PERT placement test. Additionally, any student can submit scores or take the PERT math test to place into a higher level course.

When do I register for courses?

Registration for the Fall 2023 semester opens in April. Make sure to get all your admissions steps completed to register early!

Is there a registration deadline?

There isn’t a specific registration deadline, but registering as soon as your registration window opens provides the best chance of getting the classes you want or need. When do I pay for my classes?
