When Do I Apply?

Apply after you have registered for your last semester. You are not required to wait until the end of your last semester to apply. For example, if you are planning on graduating in the Spring semester, you should apply  after you register for your courses in late October/early November.

Priority Deadline - When you submit your application on or before the published semester priority deadline, you are guaranteed the following perks: 1. your name printed in the Commencement Ceremony program, 2. Outstanding Graduate Award (OGA) consideration, and 3. the maximum number of Commencement Ceremony guest tickets

Hard Deadline - In order to apply for the semester you're graduating in, you must submit your application by the published semester hard deadline. Applications received after this date will be considered for the next available graduation application cycle.  

 How Do I Apply? | Graduation Application Checklist

  1. Complete the graduation application   in its entirety, including your signature and G00#
  2. Submit the online pre-grad survey. You do not need to print the confirmation, and re-applicants are not required to redo the survey.
  3. Pay the $20 graduation fee* to Cashiering in person or over the phone by calling 941-752-5370. *Reapplications and certificates do not have a fee
  4. After you have completed steps 1–3, submit the graduation application by the published semester deadline (posted above) via email to, in person, fax, or mail to Educational Records

What If My Plans Change or I Need to Apply for a Different Semester? 

Please notify your advisor and our graduation specialist as soon as you know. We may be able to shift your application to the following semester without you having to re-apply.

Checklist for Participating in the Commencement Ceremony

Spring Ceremony: Friday, May 4, 2018 at 7:00 p.m.

All summer graduates are invited to participate in the winter ceremony in December.

  1. After you have submitted your graduation application by the posted deadline (listed above), check your SCF student email for application status updates, and if necessary, follow instructions. 
  2. The online RSVP deadline for the Spring 2018 ceremony is Friday, March 30, 2018. Students who submitted an online RSVP will be contacted via SCF student email with information about guest tickets. The number of guest tickets per graduate will be determined after the RSVP deadline. 
  3. Check your SCF student email for updates regarding the Outstanding Graduate Award (OGA), guest ticket distribution, regalia, new graduation and alumni items at the SCF Store, and more!
  4. Visit and review the Graduation Ceremony Information Web page early and often for information regarding the ceremony!
  5. Pre-order regalia (cap, gown, and tassel) by March 16, 2018, here. All pre-orders will be delivered to the SCF Store for pick-up.


Q: Do I need to apply for graduation even if I will not be walking in the ceremony? 

  • A: Yes. You must successfully submit all steps of the graduation application to be considered for a degree or certificate. If you will not be walking, please RSVP on the attendance email, sent later in the semester, that you will not be attending.

Q: Since I did not meet my degree/certificate requirements on the first attempt, I am reapplying for the same degree or certificate. What do I need to do?

  • A: Submit a new graduation application. There is no need to repay the $20 application fee or retake the graduation survey for a repeat attempt at the same degree or certificate within SCF.

Q: When will I receive my diploma?

  • A: Please allow for 6–8 weeks after graduation.

Q: How do I order a transcript? 

  • A: If you need your transcript immediately after graduation, please order it here at this time. You will need to mark the transcript as "Hold for Degree," which will move you up in the final review list and your transcript will be sent quickly.
