About EarthFest
EarthFest 2010 is a community-wide Earth Day celebration created to raise awareness about the importance of recycling and preserve the environment.
Founded by State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota student Shane Henry, EarthFest 2010 emerged from an SCF Earth Club event held in effort to be recognized by Guinness World Records™ for counting the most plastic bottles in an eight hour period.
Held on the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day, EarthFest 2010 is a free event featuring a plastic bottle collection, hybrid and fuel-efficient vehicle show, local “green” business displays, food and entertainment.
Last year’s event captured the attention of several local and regional media outlets as organizers collected 41,100 plastic bottles weighing more than 4,020 pounds.
