January 2015

FREE Zumba Fitness classes – Tuesdays beginning January 12th from 5:00pm to 6:00pm in Building 800-Selby – worth 50 wellpoints (maximum of 300 wellpoints for Zumba classes can be earned per semester).

FREE Yoga classes – Fridays beginning January 12th from 12:00pm to 1:00pm in Building 800-Selby – worth 50 wellpoints for each class (maximum of 300 wellpoints for yoga classes can be earned per semester).

Wednesday, January 15th– Blood Drive from 10:00am to 4:00pm, OneBlood Blood Mobile will be in front of Building 800 – worth 50 wellpoints for a successful donation (extra wellpoints available for a double donation). You may also obtain wellpoints for any documented donation given off campus.

Tuesday, January 20th – “The A Game,” presented by SCF Academic Resource Center staff from 10:00am to 11:30am in building 400-416. If you are looking for tips and tricks to help you make the grade you really want this term, then you should attend this workshop and learn the steps you can take to help you in the “A” game – worth 50 wellpoints.

Thursday, January 22nd – “Getting to Know Your Calculator,” presented by SCF Academic Resource Center staff from 10:00am to 11:30am in building 400-419. Are you confused about how to use the calculator for your class? Attend this workshop and learn how to make your calculator work for you – worth 50 wellpoints.

Thursday, January 22nd – SCF Music Student Showcase. Concert begins at 8:00pm in the Neel Performing Arts Center (bldg.11). Student artist representatives will perform a variety of musical works in a benefit concert on behalf of SCF music student activities. General admission $10, donations accepted – worth 50 wellpoints (must attach ticket stub to receive wellpoints).

Health services available include: blood pressure check, diabetes-glucose screening, HIV and STD testing, body mass index, and pregnancy testing – worth 25 wellpoints (maximum of 25 wellpoints can be earned per semester).

Tuesday, February 4th – “Resume Power Hour,” presented by SCF Career Resource Center staff from 1:00pm to 2:00pm in Building 100-174. Learn how to easily and quickly develop a resume to get the attention of employers, transfer schools, and scholarship committees – worth 50 wellpoints.

Wednesday, February 11th – “Transfer 101,” presented by SCF Advising Center staff from 3:00pm to 4:00pm in building 100-174. Do you see a Bachelor’s degree in your future? Your best strategy is to plan ahead. Come to this workshop and learn about transferring to a college or university. We will give you a timeline to follow including choosing a major, determining prerequisites, applying to the university and so much more. You don’t want to miss this opportunity – worth 50 wellpoints.

Thursday, February 12th – U.S Army Woodwind Quintet Concert. Concert begins at 8:00pm in the Neel Performing Arts Center (bldg.11). Founded in 1996, The U.S. Army Band Woodwind Quintet is one of the Army’s premiere chamber ensembles that entertains, educates and inspires. Admission is FREE – worth 50 wellpoints (must attach ticket stub to receive wellpoints).

Sunday, March 1st – Carl Orff’s “Carmina Burana.” Concert begins at 2:00pm in the Neel Performing Arts Center (bldg.11). The SCF Choirs and Orchestra combine forces to present one of the monumental musical works of the 20th century. Featuring poetry that celebrates life’s pleasures, music with earth-shaking visceral choruses, thundering percussion, and blazing brass all packing a massive punch together to make composer Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana one of the most exhilarating musical experiences for performer and audience alike. Part of the SCF Foundation Sundays at the Neel Series. General Admission $30, students and SCF employees $15 – worth 50 wellpoints (must attach ticket stub to receive wellpoints).

Thursday, March 19th – “Social Media & Networking,” presented by SCF Career Resource Center staff from 2:00pm to 3:00pm in Building 100-174. Your in-person and online presence have the power to move you to the top of the hire list or sway an employer to remove your application completely. Attend this workshop and learn about presenting yourself professionally through social media and through in-person networking – worth 50 wellpoints.

Tuesday, March 24th – “Using Your CAPP to Put Together Your A.A. or A.S. Degree,” presented by SCF Advising Services staff from 3:00pm to 4:00pm in Building 100-174. Attend this workshop and get the information needed to navigate your way through you’re A.A. or A.S. degree – worth 50 wellpoints.

Thursday, March 26th – SCF Jazz Bands in Concert. Concert begins at 8:00pm in the Neel Performing Arts Center (bldg.11). The Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Combo will feature a variety of jazz styles. General admission $8, students and SCF employees $4 – worth 50 wellpoints (must attach ticket stub to receive wellpoints).

Tuesday, March 31st – Guest Artist, Rebecca Penneys, Piano and SCF Faculty Fred Gratta, Cello. Concert begins at 8:00pm in the Neel Performing Arts Center (bldg.11). Rebecca Penneys has been a Steinway artist since 2003, professor at Eastman School of Music, artist-in-residence at St. Petersburg College, and a resident artist at the Chautaqua Festival since 1978. She has also has hosted the Rebecca Penneys Piano Festival 2013 and 2014 at University of South Florida. Fred Gratta, principal cellist for the St. Petersburg Opera Company, Tampa Bay Symphony and member of the Florida Orchestra since 1994, is an adjunct professor at Eckerd College and SCF. General admission $8, students and SCF employees $4 – worth 50 wellpoints (must attach ticket stub to receive wellpoints).

Tuesday, April 7th – SCF Chamber Concert. Concert begins at 8:00pm in the Neel Performing Arts Center (bldg.11). Join the SCF Brass Choir, Woodwind Choir, String Quartet, and Percussion Ensemble as we invite you on the stage to sit up close and personal with us as we play some of our favorite chamber music selections. General admission $8, students and SCF employees $4 – worth 50 wellpoints (must attach ticket stub to receive wellpoints).

Thursday, April 9th – Guest Artists O Som Do Jazz featuring SCF Faculty Marc Mannino, Jazz Guitar. Concert begins at 8:00pm in the Neel Performing Arts Center (bldg.11). SCF faculty Marc Mannino, jazz guitarist, and guest artists O Som Do Jazz featuring Rio de Janeiro singer Andrea Moraes Manson, will entertain you with an evening of jazz favorites along with Brazilian Bossa Nova and samba-jazz. General admission $8, students and SCF employees $4 – worth 50 wellpoints (must attach ticket stub to receive wellpoints).

Thursday, April 16th – Faculty Recital, Rex Willis, Composer “Disorderly Music in a World of Chaos!” Concert begins at 8:00pm in the Neel Performing Arts Center (bldg.11). SCF faculty member and composition professor Rex Willis presents traditional original compositions as well as experimental music. Come, be a part of it! General admission $8, students and SCF employees $4 – worth 50 wellpoints (must attach ticket stub to receive wellpoints).

Monday, April 20th – SCF Music Theatre Showcase. Concert begins at 8:00pm in the Neel Performing Arts Center (bldg.11). This showcase included exciting and moving scenes from the Broadway lexicon performed by members of the Music Theatre Ensemble. Admission is FREE – worth 50 wellpoints (must attach ticket stub to receive wellpoints).

Thursday, April 30th – Spring Fling Concert “Viva Florida! Concert begins at 7:00pm in the SCF Bradenton Performance Pavilion. The annual outdoor Spring Fling concert featuring all music ensembles will celebrate the unique character of Florida along with a year of musical accomplishments at SCF. General admission $8, students and SCF employees $4 – worth 50 wellpoints (must attach ticket stub to receive wellpoints).
