Motorcycle Rider Classes
NOTICE: Beginning July 1, 2008, the State of Florida will require ALL people wanting a motorcycle endorcement must complete the Basic Rider Course (BRC). After successful completion of the BRC, you will be able to go to the Department of Motor Vehicle the next business day to obtain the motorcycle license. We offer the Basic Rider Course at both the Bradenton and Venice campuses in the mornings and on the weekends.
Florida law requires all motorcycle riders to have a motorcycle endorsement on their driver license. First-time applicants seeking a motorcycle endorsement are required to successfully complete the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles Florida Rider Training Program Basic Rider Course (BRC).
Basic Rider Course (BRC) is offered each weekend at both the Bradenton and Venice Campus. Call to schedule your BRC class - dates are not posted on this website.

NEW this fall! Seminars for Motorcyclist
Girlz Garage - is for Girls only! This 2 hour class will teach you about T-CLOCS and what to do with them. Also, you will learn how to properly and safely pick up your bike if it "happens to meet the ground", to change the oil, tighten the chain and much more. Join us for this fun and interactive class! Join the "Girlz Garage" and meet other female riders. Private group rate with 6 people or more registering for the same class date - $10 each

Group Riding - will teach safety first whenever participating in a group ride event. The instructor will include how to prepare and communicate with the rides in the group. Limit space of 10 per class.
Fall group rate of $10 each for a group of 6 people who register for the same class date.

First Run - This three-hour riding course is recommended for first-time riders and should be taken before the Basic Rider Course. The beginning rider will have an opportunity to become familiar with and more comfortable with a motorcycle. Class exercises will include starting and stopping, shifting and stopping, and using the friction zone. The class is taught by a nationally certified Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) Rider Coach. Class size is limited to six students. Fee: $55

Scooter School - SCF will begin offering the BRC class for scooters to earn the FRTP endorsement. The student will furnish their own Scooter for the class and has to show proof of liability insurance on their Scooter before they are able to ride the Scooter on the course. The student should trailer their Scooter to the BRC range at either the Bradenton or Venice locations each day the class will ride on the range. See the information on the BRC description as to what the student should wear for the riding exercises. Cost: $225
Two or more register together for the same class time, $199 per person.
Basic Rider Course (BRC) - includes basic motorcycle operations, effective braking techniques, turning skills, obstacle avoidance maneuvers and safe street riding strategies. Course consists of both classroom and range practice. Instructors are certified by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF). Motorcycles are furnished by Hap's, South County Honda (Venice) and Action Kawasaki with Cycle Gear discount on equipment upon successful completiong of the BRC or ERC class. A waiver must be signed by all class participants. Students under 18 must present a waiver signed by parent or guardian prior to the first riding session.
Fee $225 Two or more register together for the same class time, $199 per person.
BRC offered each weekend at both the Bradenton and Venice campus - dates are not posted, call to register for the class. Daytime BRC classes are offered at the Venice Campus.
Experienced Rider Course (ERC) - an eight hour course for riders who have ridden for more than a year, already own and operate a motorcycle or scooter and know motorcycle handling techniques. Classroom discussions are combined with riding activities on your personally owned motorcycle or scooter on Saturday or Sunday, 6:45am to 5:30pm.

For this course, students must use their own bikes, must have a MRC endorsement (motorcycle license) and show proof of liability insurance. Without this, students will not be allowed into the course. Bikes will be inspected for safety. Motorcycle Endorsement is not given out with this class.

What to wear on Saturday & Sunday for motorcycle students:
During riding sessions on Saturday and Sunday students are required to wear the following protective gear:
3/4 or full coverage helmet and protective eyewear
Full-fingered gloves
Shirt or jacket with long sleeves and long pants
Sturdy shoes or boots covering the ankles
Students not wearing appropriate protective gear will not be allowed to participate in the riding portion of the course.
Class format: Classes begin promptly at the designated times. If you come late to class, you will be asked to leave the class with no refund on the tutition money you paid for the class.
