TB-B2B Tampa Bay Bridge to Baccalaureate Program 

Considering a career in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)?

TB B2B (TBB2B) logoThe National Science Foundation has awarded the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) grant to a consortium of three institutions on Florida’s Gulf Coast which include St. Petersburg College, Hillsborough Community College and State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota. The purpose of the Tampa Bay Bridge to Baccalaureate (TB-B2B) program is to increase the number of underrepresented minority (URM)* students completing a bachelor’s degree in a STEM program.

*African-American, Alaskan Native, American Indian/Native American, Hawaiian Native, Hispanic/Latino, and Native Pacific Islander

By joining the TB-B2B LSAMP Program, SCF students have access to:

  • Individualized STEM Career Program Advising
  • Supplemental tutoring with professors and peer tutors
  • Annual STEM conference
  • Skill-Building Workshops
  • Touring opportunities of businesses/facilities and 4 year institutions
  • Chance to serve as a peer mentor for the program
  • Internship and research opportunities
  • Dedicated study space in the B2B STEM Study Room

This Could be YOU! 

  • Our students have gone out into the field and participated in internships at Mote Marine Labatory & Aquarium and presented research to scientists on Marine Life, worked with Sarasota Bay researching Seagrass in Sarasota, and took part in Undergraduate Research experiences in Robotics and Natural Dye Sensitized Solar Cells. 
  • Have met with researchers at Mote Marine, at conferences, and through undergraduate research experiences offered through the program.

 

Eligibility Requirements

  • Be a currently enrolled student at SCF 
  • Be an underrepresented minority (African-American, Alaskan Native, American Indian/Native American, Hawaiian Native, Hispanic/Latino, and Native Pacific Islander)
  • Plan to pursue a STEM bachelor’s degree
  • Maintain at least a 2.0 GPA
  • Meet regularly with the Student Success Coordinator
  • Participate in B2B events each semester

August 8th, 9th, 10th: Chemistry Boot Camp
  • SCF is hosting chemistry boot camp to help prepare students to be successful in chemistry courses. This synchronous workshop will focus on reinforcing fundamental chemistry concepts including: matter, atomic structure, dimensional analysis, nomenclature, writing and balancing chemical equations, moles, stoichiometry, and solutions chemistry.

  • Kickstart of B2B Welcome Week, come get to know your fellow B2B cohort, play some games, and learn about what is upcoming for the semester.
