SCF Math Faculty Members Administer ACES Competition

(Bradenton, Fla., April 24, 2013 ) — Faculty members from State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota’s (SCF) math department created, administered and graded examinations for the annual Math ACES competition for public and private high schools in Manatee and Sarasota counties held on March 21.

Each school's top scorer will be recognized with a $100 award and a certificate at the school's senior awards assembly.

Winners of this year’s competition are Carolyn Silverman, Booker High School; Alex Sloboda, North Port High School; Josh Palmer, Pine View School; Jonathan Corin, Riverview High School; Powell Stone, Sarasota Military Academy; Helen Liu, Suncoast Polytechnical High School; Robert Rainer, Venice High School; Kevin Moody, Out-of-Door Academy; Samantha Xavioer, Lakewood Ranch High School; Robert Hicks, Manatee High School; Taylor Myers, Braden River High School; Nathan Callihan, Palmetto High School; Dimitri Nikitopoulos, Southeast High School; and Connor Lynch, St. Stephen’s Episcopal School.

The exam is sponsored by the American Society of Civil Engineers, The State College of Florida Foundation Inc., the Education Foundation of Sarasota County Inc. and the Sarasota Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
