SCF Earth Club and PTK Honor Society Claim First Place Trophies in SandBlast Competition

(Bradenton, Fla., November 6, 2013) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Earth Club and Nu Zeta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society participated in the America Recycles Day at the SandBlast competition at Coquina Beach on Nov. 2. The annual fundraiser for Keep Manatee Beautiful was held in partnership with Manatee County Government and Team Sandtastic.

PTK won first place in the free form category, and SCF’s Earth Club placed first in the holiday category, claiming its third first place trophy at the competition in the past few years. The Earth Club, which has participated in the SandBlast Competition for the past eight years, was sponsored by the Sarasota Bay Estuary Program.
