SCF Conducts the Inauguration of President Dr. Carol F. Probstfeld

State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will conduct the inauguration of SCF’s sixth president, Dr. Carol F. Probstfeld, on Friday, Nov. 8. SCF offices will be closed and no classes or academic support labs will be held at SCF Bradenton, SCF Venice and SCF Lakewood Ranch, and all other locations on Friday, Nov. 8.

Following the inauguration, the SCF Foundation Inc. will sponsor the “Evening Under the Stars” event at SCF Bradenton on the Great Lawn near building 14. General admission is free and will open at 5:30 p.m., a presentation by Brian Olsen of Art in Action will be held at 7:15 p.m., and a concert featuring the SCF Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Band and student vocalists will begin at 8:15 p.m. Fireworks start at 9 p.m. The public is invited to bring a chair and cooler and sit on the lawn to enjoy the concert and fireworks.

SCF also will be closed in observance of Veterans Day on Monday, Nov. 11. During the holiday weekend, Saturday College classes at SCF Lakewood Ranch will be held as scheduled. The academic resource center, library and dental hygiene clinic are closed throughout the weekend and on Monday for Veterans Day. The regular schedule of classes, labs and libraries will resume Tuesday, Nov. 12.

SCF Studio 84 Productions will present an interactive children's theatre production, “The Story of Juanito Citruseed,” at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov.11, in the David S. and Anne V. Howard Studio Theatre at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W., building 11 West. The event is free and open to the public.
