Vietnam Veteran to Speak at SCF Venice

(Bradenton, Fla., March 26, 2014) – Retired Lt. Col. Mack Rogers Jr. will give the presentation "Vietnam Remembered" at noon Monday, April 21, at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail, building 800, Selby Room. Sponsored by the History/Political Science Club at SCF, the event is free and open to the public.

Rogers served a one-year tour in Vietnam and continued active duty for 10 years in the U. S. Army. He remained in the Army Reserve for an additional 15 years before retiring in 1995, but he was recalled to active duty briefly in 1990 during Operation Desert Storm.

Rogers received numerous awards and decorations, including the Bronze Star for Valor for his service in Vietnam. He also is the uncle of Michael Rogers, SCF History/Political Science Club adviser.
