SCFCS Student Excels at State Competition
(Bradenton, Fla., April 21, 2014) — State College of Florida Collegiate School (SCFCS) ninth grade student AJ Cali received a Superior Rating at the Florida Thespians State Festival March 26-28 for his solo musical performance of "Extraordinary" from the Broadway musical "Pippin." Cali, who performed with 7,000 high school students in Florida, qualified for the national competition in Lincoln, Neb., this summer.
Cali is president of the SCFCS chapter of the International Thespian Troupe 7937, which was chartered in Fall 2013.
As an innovative, technology-oriented school, SCFCS is a tuition-free public charter school with grades 6-12 at SCF Bradenton. Students in 11th grade enroll in the Accelerated College Program to receive guidance and support from SCFCS while taking college courses with an opportunity to earn simultaneously a high school diploma and an associate's degree. A partnership with Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) provides a scholarship program for SCFCS graduates to continue to FGCU for a baccalaureate degree.
