SCF Foundation Inc. Creates Veterans Scholarship Fund

American Legion NO-VEL Post 159 Makes First Significant Contribution

(Bradenton, Fla., July 24, 2014) — The American Legion NO-VEL Post 159 has made the first significant gift of $4,000 to the newly created Veterans Scholarship Fund at the State College of Florida (SCF) Foundation Inc. 

The SCF Foundation Inc. Board of Directors gave approval to match donated funds up to $25,000, which brings the value of American Legion gift to $8,000.

The American Legion’s contribution combined with additional donations raises the total amount of the Veterans Scholarship Fund to $18,000. SCF Foundation scholarship funds are endowed at $25,000.

In the past two years, this American Legion has been a strong supporter of SCF student veterans, providing $6,000 for the Emergency Veterans Fund, which has been a valuable resource for students.

"Our relationship with the American Legion NO-VEL Post 159 has been inspirational," said Cassandra Holmes, executive director of the SCF Foundation Inc.  "Their generosity has been so great the past three years, and our veteran students have benefited from these gifts in a meaningful way."
