G.I. Jobs Magazine Names SCF a 2015 Military Friendly® School

(Bradenton, Fla., September 23, 2014) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) has been named a 2015 Military Friendly® Schoolby G.I. Jobs magazine, the premier publication for military personnel transitioning into civilian life.

As a top Military Friendly® School for the fifth year, SCF is recognized among the top 20 percent of all colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide for exhibiting leading practices in the recruitment and retention of students with military experience and ensuring the success of military service members, veterans and spouses as college students.

More than 350 veterans from all branches of the military are enrolled at SCF.

SCF veterans centers offer assistance with admissions, course selection, financial aid and tutoring. SCF student clubs, including the SCF Bradenton and Venice chapters of the Student Veterans of America, provide support to veterans as they adjust to civilian life. SCF student-veterans who have financial need can receive assistance through the SCF Foundation Inc.’s newly created Veterans Scholarship Fund. With contributions from American Legion NO-VEL Post 159, the Military Officers Association of Sarasota and other donors, the scholarship fund has reached $19,000.
