SCF’s Brain Bowl Team Wins Tournament

(Bradenton, Fla., November 26, 2014) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota’s (SCF) Brain Bowl Team A won the Delta Burke Brain Bowl Tournament at Valencia College Nov. 14-15.

Students also performed well in individual competitions. Out of 86 participants, SCF students Michael Moore ranked 2nd and Naimul Chowdhury ranked 17th.  Other players included SCF students Ariel Watsky, Colton Kunzeman, Adriana Souza, Matthew Willman, Michael Freedman, Leon Hostetler, Jonathan Willman and Gage Luginbill and SCF Collegiate School students Quentin Ferring, Olivia Doronio, Kara Stevens and Emily Waikem.

Participating colleges and universities included Chipola State College, Valencia College, Northwest Florida State College, Broward College, Seminole State College, South Florida State College, Florida Gateway College, Florida State College at Jacksonville, College of Central Florida and University of Central Florida.

Christina Dwyer, SCF assistant professor, mathematics, and Hyun Kim, assistant professor, art, design, humanities, are the team’s coaches.
