SCF President Dr. Carol Probstfeld Elected Chair of Florida College System

(Bradenton, Fla., August 5, 2015) – State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) President Dr. Carol Probstfeld has been elected chair of the Council of Presidents of the Florida College System (FCS) by the presidents of all 28 state/community colleges. Her appointment is for a one-year term.

The Florida College System is comprised of the 28 public state/community colleges in the state that offer certificates, associate and baccalaureate degrees. The Council of Presidents (COP) is made up of the president of each of these schools. Its members are charged with directing and monitoring FCS committees devoted to business, instructional and student matters, as well as resource development for colleges throughout the state. Dr. Probstfeld previously served as Policy and Advocacy chair for the FCS.

"I am honored to be selected by my peers to represent them as this year's chair of the Council of Presidents,” said Dr. Probstfeld. “This is one of the best community college systems in the nation and all 28 schools do incredible things for our students, communities and workforce partners every day."

Dr. Probstfeld became president of SCF in January 2013, after serving for 10 years as vice president of business and administrative services. She has more than 20 years of higher education experience.

In addition to the FCS, Dr. Probstfeld is active in several local organizations, including the Manatee Memorial Board of Governors, the Bradenton Area Economic Development Corporation and Sarasota Chamber of Commerce.
