SCF Venice to Feature Talk on Celtic Spirituality

(Bradenton, Fla., March 6, 2015) – State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Philosophy Club will host The Rev. Donald Wilson, who will speak on Celtic Spirituality at
1 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, at SCF Venice, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail, Building 800, Selby Room.

The Rev. Wilson, Senior Minister of Venice United Church of Christ, has made Celtic Spirituality the focus of his theological and historical study. The Celtic people of Ireland, Scotland and Britain had a heritage of spirituality that was practiced long before Christianity was introduced to their culture.

“It is helpful to understand this Celtic spiritual understanding in order to more fully explore our unique relationship with creation in our present time,” Wilson said. “The agreements and disagreements with the prevailing cultural expressions of spirituality today have many roots and traditions of practice in the Celtic ways.”
