SCFCS Students Excel at State Theatre Competition

(Bradenton, Fla., Jan. 22, 2016) — State College of Florida Collegiate School (SCFCS) juniors A.J. Cali and Kaitlyn Folsom represented SCFCS Thespian Troupe 7937 at the District 6 Thespian Competition held annually by the Florida State Thespians, a chapter of the Education Theatre Association sponsored by the International Thespian Society. Cali received an excellent rating and Folsom received a superior. Folsom advances to the state thespian competition in Tampa March 16-19 themed State: The Final Frontier! She was also the Bradenton-area Idol winner this past summer. Florida Thespian has troupes across Florida representing excellence in theatre and drama education. Ratings are ranked by five categories: superior, excellent, good, fair and poor.

As an innovative, technology-oriented school, SCFCS is a tuition-free public charter school with grades 6-12. Students in 11th grade enroll in the Accelerated College Program to receive guidance and support from SCFCS while taking college courses with an opportunity to earn simultaneously a high school diploma and an associate's degree. A partnership with Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) provides a scholarship program for SCFCS graduates to continue to FGCU for a baccalaureate degree.
