SCF Baseball Player Named FCSAA Player of the Week

(Bradenton, Fla., Feb. 23, 2016) – State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Manatees Baseball player Ethan Skender, the team’s shortstop, was named baseball player of the week by the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) on Feb. 16.

The FCSAA released its National Junior College Athletic Association’s (NJCAA) Region 8 Baseball and Softball Coaches’ Polls for Feb. 16 and Player and Pitcher of the Week selections for games played Feb. 8-14.

Skender, from Metamora, Ill., batted .733 (11 for 15) with nine runs scored, three doubles, one triple, seven RBIs and four stolen bases during the voting period. He led the Manatees to a perfect 4-0 record during the week, and he hit safely in all four games. Against University of Tampa-JV he went 4 for 4 and scored six runs.  In a three-game series with Florida State College at Jacksonville, he went 7 for 11 and drove in six runs. Skender is the first Manatee chosen as player of the week this season.
