Biotechnology Student Accepts Internship with Enzymedica

(Bradenton, Fla., March 1, 2016) – State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) biotechnology student Pascal Suissa has accepted an internship with Enzymedica, a partner of the biotech program. Enzymedica is a Florida company founded in 1998 with the purpose of producing high-potency enzyme products that aid with digestion.

Suissa’s internship is designed to continue training in his academic major through field experiences and is a required component of the biotech program. Suissa, Dr. Matthew Thomas, Associate Professor and Manager of the Biotechnology Department, and an Enzymedica site supervisor work together to determine specific learning objectives. Enzymedica has offered internships to two biotechnology students before Suissa. Sara van der Veken was an SCF biotechnology intern and since has been offered a permanent position with Enzymedica as an important member of their Quality Control/Quality Assurance (QC/QA) department. Suissa will intern in the QC/QA department as well ensuring their products meet the proper specifications.

SCF’s Biotechnology Program prepares students for a career in advanced molecular biology techniques used in research and industrial environments. One of SCF’s many strategic goals is to offer experiences and opportunities to our students. “I am proud of the accomplishments of Pascal and previous intern Sara van der Veken,” Thomas said.
