Student to Exhibit “Living Dream Photo Documentary” in Fine Art Gallery

(Bradenton, Fla., March 1, 2016) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Fine Art Gallery, in association with the Department of Art, Design, Humanities (ADH), presents “Living Dream Photo Documentary” in the Spring 2016 student art exhibition, March 4 - 25 in the Fine Art Gallery at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W. The gallery and ADH Department will host an opening reception 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, March 4, with an artist’s talk from 6:30 to 7 p.m.

Portraits of 25 success stories will be on display during the exhibit hosted by the SCF Diversity Committee and student photographer Travis Pendergrass. He photographed 25 individuals he considered to be successful urban community leaders to accompany his “Living Dream Photo Documentary.” The documentary was made possible through a $4,975 grant received from State College of Florida’s MLK Service Day awards.

According to Pendergrass, “Living Dream Photo Documentary” seeks to explore the connection between education and success. He found the common thread to success in the paths of those he documented is education. He poses the questions of what success means to each; what obstacles are faced on the road to success; and what advice would be given to help others succeed.

“Education over everything,” Pendergrass said. “Be inspired to be blessed and you will find success.” Pendergrass is completing his associates in arts degree this year and will go to the University of South Florida, Tampa to pursue a bachelor’s degree in photography with a minor in journalism.

Opening night is March 4. Exhibit dates are March 4 - 25. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday - Friday. For more information, call Joe Loccisano, gallery manager, at 941-752-5225.
