SCF Business Students Excel at State Leadership Conference

(Bradenton, Fla., April 7, 2016) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) business students in Phi Beta Lambda-Gamma Beta Upsilon excelled at the Future Business Leaders of America-Phi Beta Lambda (FBLA-PBL) 67th annual Florida Phi Beta Lambda State Leadership Conference March 17-20 in Orlando.

SCF’s PBL members competed against 360 students from colleges and universities across the state. The winning students qualified to compete at the 2016 FBLA-PBL National Leadership Conference June 24-27 in Atlanta.

FBLA-PBL state award winners were:

  • Elizabeth Anne Miller — first place Entrepreneurship Concepts, first place Information Management and Project Management
  • Damien Bobrek — first place, Network Design, second place in both Networking Concepts and Computer Concepts.
  • Mirko Susan — first place, Mobile Applications
  • Cameron Hilbert — second place, Computer Applications
  • Devin Feng — third place, Computer Applications
  • Ana Melone — third place, Impromptu Speaking
  • Ava Daraisamu — third place, Public speaking

FBLA-PBL is a nonprofit education association with a quarter million students preparing for careers in business and business-related fields by developing their leadership, communication and team skills and giving them an opportunity to network and compete at local, state and national levels. The association has four divisions, including Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) for high school students; FBLA-Middle Level for junior high, middle, and intermediate school students; PBL for postsecondary students; and Professional Division for businesspeople, FBLA-PBL alumni, educators and parents who support the goals of the association.
