Studio 84 Productions at SCF to Present “Five Women Wearing the Same Dress”

(Bradenton, Fla., April 7, 2016) – Studio 84 Productions at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota, (SCF) will present “Five Women Wearing the Same Dress” beginning at 8 p.m. April 15 in the David S. & Anne V. Howard Studio Theatre, SCF Bradenton.

Alan Ball’s irreverent, adult comedy, features five bridesmaids hiding in an upstairs bedroom, hoping to escape the wedding reception of a bride who none of them really like. The five women discover a common bond in this wickedly funny, irreverent and touching celebration of the women's spirit. (This play contains adult language and situations. Discretion is advised.)

Ball is a writer, director and a producer of film, theater and television who went to Florida State University. His “American Beauty” screenplay won an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay (2000), Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay - Motion Picture (2000) and Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series – Drama (2000). He wrote and produced “True Blood” and “Six Feet Under.”

Amanda Schlachter, SCF adjunct instructor, will direct the comedy. Cast members are SCF students Alexandra Ladyzhensky, Veronica Powell, Roxanne Smith, Marina Vorobyov, Nader Ajib and University of South Florida student Marlee Abbott.

The production will be shown at 8 p.m. April 15, 16, 22 and 23 and 2 p.m. April 17 and 24. Tickets are $12 for adults and seniors; $6 for students and SCF staff.
