SCF Music and Theatre Programs to Hold Scholarship Auditions

(Bradenton, Fla., April 7, 2016) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Music and Theatre Programs will hold scholarship auditions for students planning to enroll in the 2016-17 academic year at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 23, at SCF Bradenton, Neel Performing Arts Center, Building 11 East, off 60th Avenue West between 26th and 34th streets, accessible from parking lot H.

Applicants also will learn more about the programs, meet the faculty and tour the state-of-the-art facility equipped with acoustics, classrooms, studios, offices and practice rooms with digital keyboards and interactive technology.

SCF’s Music Program offers opportunities for student musicians to take classes and private lessons and participate in Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, Symphonic Band, Symphony Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, Guitar Ensemble and Musical Theatre Ensemble. The music faculty includes more than 30 leading professional musicians and music educators. Additionally, local, national and international performers frequently present recitals and master classes.

SCF’s Theatre Program produces four plays a year under the student acting company Studio 84 Productions, and offers students opportunities in both performance and technical areas of theatre. Faculty are theatre professionals with connections to local, regional and national theatre companies and training programs. Since 1980, the program has taken active theatre students to New York or London to experience the finest in professional theatre.

All students planning to enroll full-time at SCF in Fall 2016 are eligible to apply for the scholarships. Students are not required to be a music or theatre major to be awarded a scholarship.
