SCF to Offer Summer Camp Program for Students Ages 7-15

(Bradenton, Fla., April 21, 2016) — Manatee and Sarasota students will have a lot to say about what they did over the summer if they are enrolled in the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) summer camp program.

Registration is open now for Kids’ Summer Spectrum, an educational enrichment day camp for children 7-15. Classes are offered at SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W., and SCF Lakewood Ranch, 7131 Professional Parkway E.

Sessions include such activities and topics as arts and crafts, cooking, Florida adventures, fitness, chemistry, the environment, puppetry, space, teamwork and sports. There are even STEM and computer and technical classes that allow students to create their own video games, capture stop-motion animation, bringing this like clay models to life, and to use Legos to design, test and build engineering projects.

The hands-on computer and technical classes will be offered at SCF Lakewood Ranch only. Those classes include video game engineering, digital video academy, Fun-Gineering with Lego Technic and Android App Inventor.

Morning and afternoon Computer Tech sessions are offered each week, June 13-Aug. 5. There are no classes the week of July 4. Morning sessions run from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Afternoon sessions are 1:30-5 p.m. The cost of classes range from $75 for KSS camp to $145 Computer Tech per session. Early arrival is available for an extra $25 a week.. Students who are enrolled for the entire day are required to bring their lunches.
