SCF, Manatee-Sarasota Photography Student Published on Prestigious Photo Site

(Bradenton, Fla., Dec. 1, 2016) — Thomas Prettyman, a photography student at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF), has published one of his photographs with the prestigious Ilford Photo company of England.  His image also will be used on the cover of darkroom printing paper boxes distributed worldwide.

In selecting Prettyman’s photo, along with five other black-and-white portraits, Ilford Photo said: “We have been overwhelmed with the quality of portraits sent in this week. The ones that we have selected … all had something about them that brought us back for a second look.”

Prettyman, 21, is an Englewood, Fla. native who is in his final year at SCF. He is planning to transfer to New York University after he graduates in the spring and wants to pursue a dual major in media communications and education. He has commuted between the SCF Venice and Bradenton campuses. He took most of his darkroom classes in Bradenton, where he worked with Andrew Webster, the photography program manager, and Peter Gedeon, the lab instructor.

“Mr.Webster and Mr.Gedeon have been extremely helpful to me this semester,” Prettyman said. “I sought out this class specifically to get the time to work with them.”
