SCF Manatees Catcher Reilly Johnson Named Player of the Week

(Bradenton, Fla., March 30, 2017) — Reilly Johnson, a sophomore at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF), was named NJCAA Region 8 Baseball Player of the Week for the week ending March 26.

The catcher batted .533 (8-15) with three runs scored, one double and three RBIs in four games during the voting period.  Johnson helped the Manatees pick up Suncoast Conference victories against Hillsborough Community College and Polk State College, ranked sixth in the NJCAA. He finished the week with consecutive 4-for-4 games versus Polk State. In the final game against the Eagles, he scored three runs and drove in two.

Johnson reached base in nine consecutive plate appearances over the final two games, and recorded a sacrifice fly in his final at bat. Johnson’s batting average of .357 is the second highest on the team this season.
