SCF, Manatee-Sarasota Recognized for Commitment to Employee Well-Being

(Bradenton, Fla., Dec. 14, 2017) — Healthy Sarasota County, an organization working to make well-being thrive throughout the region, has designated State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) a Healthy Sarasota County Worksite. SCF submitted to a comprehensive review of its programs and environmental supports to improve employee health and well-being, and joins 14 other Sarasota County worksites with the designation.

Healthy Sarasota County focuses on seven target areas – healthy eating, physical activity, stress reduction, tobacco cessation, drug-free worksite, lactation support and illness prevention – which are part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Worksite Health ScoreCard. Corporate wellness consultants guide organizations through the process of setting benchmarks related to each area.

SCF offers several programs to enhance employee well-being through its “Pride in Wellness” initiative including Weight Watchers at Work, fitness classes, wellness seminars, wellness challenges and coaching, tobacco cessation and employee assistance programs, discounts at local gyms, and fresh produce delivery at all three campuses.

“We’re thrilled to have received this designation,” said Teresa Przetocki, wellness coordinator. “SCF is committed to healthy and happy employees; we think this award recognizes that commitment and the efforts we put into creating employee wellness programs that are fun and have a positive impact.”
