SCF Venice Student Veterans Collect and Distribute Toys for Kids

(Bradenton, Fla., Dec. 28, 2017) — The Student Veterans of America (SVA) Venice Chapter at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) joined forces with the Florida Guardian ad Litem (GAL) to collect and distribute toys for children during November and December. Eighteen children on the GAL’s list received toys or a cash gift toward a toy thanks to the SVA’s efforts and support from the SCF Venice community.

The SVA accepted donations from Nov. 13 to Dec. 8 and sponsored a chili cook-off on Dec. 5 to raise funds for cash gifts. The toys and cash were distributed on Dec. 11.

“Thank you to SCF Venice for their donations to help children in the area during the holidays,” said Christopher Davis, SVA Venice Chapter president.

The Florida GAL is a network of professional staff and community advocates partnering to provide a strong voice in court and positive systemic change on behalf of Florida’s abused and neglected children. For more information, visit guardianadlitem.org.
