SCF Music Students Showcased in Popular Concert

(Bradenton, Fla., Jan. 9, 2018) — The music faculty for the State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF)  have selected their top students to compete in a statewide competition for a $2,000 scholarship provided by the Florida College System Activities Association. In preparation for this competition, these students will perform their competition pieces at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19 at SCF’s Neel Performing Arts Center in a Music Student Showcase concert.

The concert, one of the most popular of the year, will be followed by a reception in the lobby of SCF’s Neel Performing Arts Center, 5840 26th St. W., so audience members can meet the best of SCF’s Music Program students and encourage them through to the competition. Refreshments will be provided.

Student artists selected for the competition and appearing in the showcase are:

  • Stephanie Dent, Vocals, Mezzo-Soprano
  • Mallory Hornberger, Piano
  • Logan Martin, Guitar
  • Rebecca Miller, Vocals, Mezzo-Soprano
  • Emmanuel Montalvo, Jazz Saxophone
  • Tyler Pinter, Violin
  • Luca Stine, Jazz Trumpet

Admission is $10, student and staff tickets are $5. Donations also will be accepted. The event will benefit SCF’s Music Program and all proceeds will be used for music students’ activities. Tickets are available at
