SCF Theatre Presents “Private Eyes”

(Bradenton, Fla., Jan. 30, 2018) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) Theatre presents Steven Dietz’s “Private Eyes” at 8 p.m. Feb. 16, 17, 23 and 24, and 2 p.m. Feb. 18 and 25, at the David S. & Anne V. Howard Studio Theatre, SCF Bradenton, 5840 26th St. W.

Dean Anthony directs the darkly comedic play, labeled by Dietz as a “comedy of suspicion,” as the audience has to repeatedly decide if the current situation is the play, or play within the play, or maybe a layer or two deeper. Dietz also described the origin of the play as “a scene in which two lovers fail to speak the truth. And, like a lie, the play grew. It began to go to greater and greater lengths to keep its own deceit afloat.”

The cast includes SCF theatre students Jeremiah Gaertner as Matthew, the lead protagonist, with Megan Ianero as his wife Lisa. Other SCF cast members are Jack Heckler as Adrian, Elizabeth Levesque as Cory, and Trenton Dixon as Frank.

Reserved seats are $12 for adults and $6 for SCF staff and all Florida students. Tickets go on sale Feb. 6 and are available at SCF’s Neel Performing Arts Center box office, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. The Howard Studio Theatre box office opens one hour before each performance. For more information, contact the box office at 941-752-5252.
