SCF to Provide Family Guardianship Training

(Bradenton, Fla., March 22, 2018) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF), in collaboration with Lutheran Services Florida Guardianship Program, will offer guardianship training approved by the 12th Judicial Circuit Court which covers Manatee, Sarasota and DeSoto counties. The course is required for anyone appointed by the court to serve as a guardian. It must be completed within four months of the appointment.

Attorneys and local service providers teach this 8-hour class which includes content on legal duties, guardian responsibilities, the rights of incapacitated wards and the availability of local resources. A written test is required. The cost is $110.

The class is 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, April 19 at The Fountains of Hope Assisted Living Facility, 2250 Jesus Way, Sarasota. Register online at SCF.edu/CCDEnroll or call 941-363-7203.
