SCF to Offer STEM Healthcare Camp for High School Students

(Bradenton, Fla., April 3, 2018) — State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF) will offer a STEM Healthcare Camp this summer for high school students who have completed the ninth grade. The camp, which allows students an opportunity to explore the roles and responsibilities of healthcare professionals, will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 23-27 at the Medical Technology & Simulation Center at SCF Lakewood Ranch, 7131 Professional Parkway E.

This weeklong camp will emphasize how to develop interactive team-building skills, essential for effective communication among healthcare providers. The course also provides students hands-on opportunities to work with simulated patients, life-size computerized mannequins built to mimic real human physiological responses. Students will use problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to determine patient conditions.
